Difference of CPR Knowledge and Confidence to Perform related to CPR Education Experience Characteristics among Emergency Room Nurses

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify differences of CPR knowledge and confidence to perform depending on emergency room nurses¡¯s CPR education experience characteristics.

Method: Data was collected from 114 emergency room nurses at 8 hospitals, including 1 advanced hospital in Seoul, 2 advanced hospitals and 5 general hospitals in Incheon. The collected data were analyzed with SPSS WIN 22.0 program using T-test, and one-way ANOVA, and the post-test was performed by Scheffe test.

Results: The average CPR knowledge of emergency room nurses was 69.8 points and it was statistically significant according to the number of CPR experience, CPR education, evaluation after CPR education, and evaluation method after CPR education. The confidence to perform CPR was 68.53 ¡¾ 16.34 points on a total of 90 points and it was statistically significant in position, CPR education, and career in ER.

Conclusion: Based on the result of the study, future CPR education program need to factor in participants¡¯ background characteristics and contents from revised guideline. Also applying simulation-based education in CPR program would be
cost-effective and efficient.
